Silverstripe

Silverstripe CMS

Silverstripe is a relative newcomer to the CMS (Content Management System) scene.  However, it's starting to make an impact with developers and designers around the globe.

The 2008 US Democratic National Convention used Silverstripe as the framework for their website.

The site received more than 3.2 million visits totaling more than 2.6 billion hits during Convention week.  This included more than 350,000 hours of video from the site.  Not bad for software developed from a small company based in New Zealand!

What technology is used?

For the technically minded, this is Open-Source software based on the PHP programming language and uses a MySQL database to store content.  It is based on the MVC(Model View Controller) architecture using object-oriented principles.

If that doesn't mean much to you that's OK.  Leave that to us. Basically we think it is a great framework on which to build your website:

  • Flexible design. Your website has no restrictions on it's look or feel.
  • Flexible code.  Silverstripe's modular structure means that we can add functionality to your site as it develops, without affecting the structure of the site.  You can add forums, newsletters, blogs - new modules are being created all the time.
  • Frees you from proprietary systems.  Avoid falling into the trap of having CMS systems that only a handful of programmers know how to work with.
  • Future Proof. There is a growing worldwide group of developers and designers using Silverstripe.  It is being improved constantly, with bug-fixes, new modules and many other goodies being added to the pool of knowledge all the time.
  • Made in New Zealand!
