Lumina CMS

This system was custom built by Lumina Web Solutions. 

It was built out of the frustration of not being able to find a Content Management System (CMS) that achieved what we wanted in the way we wanted it to.

What technology is used?

The framework runs in ASP.NET, using fully object oriented Visual Basic.  The data is stored in an MS SQL Server database. It uses a rewriting module giving well structured search-engine-friendly urls.
Although several medium sized sites still use this system, new websites are currently being built in Silverstripe.

Why have we stopped using this system?

Building Lumina CMS from the ground up solved the problem of having a CMS that we were able to structure how we wanted.  Many said 'why reinvent the wheel?', but at the time the wheel just didn't go around smoothly.

One of the big problems of having a proprietary system is the ongoing maintenance and ability to grow the system with very limited resources. When the Silverstripe CMS framework came on to the scene we could see that it had all the power and extendability that we needed.  It also had a huge developer base which is currently growing worldwide.
